Pat's Place Lubec, Maine
...with magnificent views of Campobello, Grand Manan Island and West Quoddy Head, this cozy cottage is a comfortable base for touring the Quoddy Loop, hiking, biking, deep sea fishing, fresh water fishing, golfing, clamming, blueberry picking, whale watching or just relaxing and enjoying the pristine beauty of this area.
...in this part of Maine and New Brunswick. Pat's Place has a view of one lighthouse (the Sparkplug), two others are within a couple of miles, and another one is at the far end of Campobello Island. One of those three is the red and white candy striped lighthouse seen on many an advertisement for the state of Maine, and the one with the red Cross of St. George is used in several of New Brunswick's ads. The Roosevelt cottage on Campobello Island is just a few minutes' drive away.
Pat's Place is 100' from the water of Lubec Channel at high tide. The beach is just 75' away. At West Quoddy Head, the Bay of Fundy, known for its tides, merges with the Gulf of Maine and the Atlantic. This is where the continental United States finds its most extreme tides. At medium to low tide the beach becomes so big it would be possible to play football on it. This is a wonderful place for collecting shells and rocks. Ducks, seagulls and loons can be seen swimming in the channel as well as the occasional harbor seal. Either wandering the beach or lazing on the cottage's wooden deck, you can watch the antics of this wildlife while breathing in the fresh sea air.
Linens are NOT supplied--you must bring your own towels, sheets, and pillowcases.
This cottage is on just over one half acre of land. There are other cottages within sight, but not close. Pat's Place is a private, but not isolated, getaway.
Lubec and its neighbor, Campobello Island, have a number of wonderful restaurants. There are three grocery stores close by.
