Maine is an especially scenic state. From its coastline through its woodlands to its mountains, the state offers an almost unlimited number of picturesque views of its scenery and wildlife. Notecards and photographs provide a special opportunity to capture these views.
The Puffin Pines carries a variety of work by Maine artists and photographers. This section of the web site contains a selection of the note cards we carry. New note cards will be added periodically. All note cards in this section are made in Maine.

Peter LaFreniere was born in Michigan, and spent his youth paddling the rivers and streams of Michigan, Wisconsin, and Minnesota while pursuing his education. He now lives in Lucerne, Maine, and teaches at the University of Maine. A wildlife photographer and National Audubon Society member since the 1970s, Peter currently photographs the rugged beauty of Maine the year round. He also writes articles on rivers, lakes, and wetlands, and on the birds and animals that inhabit these places. His favorite haunts include the harbors, islands, and coast from Camden to Campobello, the Allagash, the White Mountains, Acadia National Park and MDI, and Deer Isle. Peter's photographs have won local and national awards, have been published in books and magazines, and have been exhibited in galleries throughout Maine.
The Puffin Pines carries only a small selection of Peter’s note cards. Please let us know if there are other photographed scenes or themes you might like and we and Peter will make every effort to fill your request.

Unfolded, the Peter LaFreniere note cards are 7" x 10". They come folded with envelopes, and are $34.00 per assorted dozen. You may mix any of the styles above in any number for your assorted dozen.

Fred Hartman, a retired professional wildlife biologist, and Patty are a husband-wife team of award-winning artists specializing in original artwork, prints, notepads, and note cards of Maine wildlife, lighthouses, and scenic views. As their business name makes clear, their work captures the sights of Down East Maine. Members of many associations, including the Penobscot Bay Carvers and Artists Association, Union of Maine Visual Artists, Maine Audubon Society, The Nature Conservancy, Natural Resources Council of Maine, Ducks Unlimited, and The Wildlife Society, their work is on display in banks, hospitals, restaurants, at the University of Maine-Machias, and at various shops Down East as well.
The Puffin Pines carries only a sample of their work, and the photos below do not adequately capture the detail present in the drawings. Fred and Patty do commissioned projects, so if you would prefer something you do not see below, we would be happy to forward your request to them. All DownEast Drawings note cards come in a plastic wrap.
