Maine is a haven for artists of many types. Painters and carvers, pottery and basket makers, weavers and glass blowers, musicians and actors, photographers and jewelry makers, sculptors and needle workers, wood and metal workers, leather and bead workers abound throughout the State. Washington County itself, especially along the coastal route U.S. 1, boasts many fine artists, galleries, studios, & arts and craft shows.

The Puffin Pines Country Gift Store carries a variety of work by Maine artists and artisans. This section of the web site contains prints of original art. New work may be added periodically. All works of art in this section are made in Maine.

Prints of original art by Fred and Patty Hartman, Downeast Drawings

Fred Hartman, a retired professional wildlife biologist, and Patty are a husband-wife team of award-winning artists specializing in original artwork, prints, notepads, and note cards of Maine wildlife, lighthouses, and scenic views. Their work captures the nature and flavor of Down East Maine. Members of many associations, including the Penobscot Bay Carvers and Artists Association, The Nature Conservancy, Friends of Moosehorn National Wildlife Refuge, Ducks Unlimited, and The Wildlife Society, their work is on display in banks, hospitals, restaurants, the University of Maine-Machias, and in shops, stores, and businesses in 4 Counties in Maine.
